Bromeliad Plant
Item No: 809XX
WATERING & FERTILIZING:
Maintain planting medium on the dry side. Drench soil thoroughly, and allow it to become moderately dry before watering again. Keep water in the foliage-formed cups of the plant at all times. Change water in these "cups" monthly. For varieties that do not form these cups keep the soil moist, but never soggy. Do not allow plant to stand in water. Bromeliads have tiny root systems, so over watering can be fatal. Misting during winter months can prevent brown leaves.
AVAILABILITY:
Year round
COLORS AVAILABLE:
Red, orange, yellow and burgundy.

LIGHT CONDITIONS/GROWING AREAS:
Most bromeliads require bright light away from direct sun, but can be maintained for many weeks in lower light. If outdoors place on shaded patio.
OPTIMUM SOIL CONDITIONS:
Plant in loose fibrous potting mix with plenty of peat moss.
REFLOWERING:

Once the flower head fades, the rosette of leaves starts to die and is replaced by the offsets at the base. When the offset is several months old, remove it with some roots attached and plany shallowly in light planting medium. Keep warm until established. PEST CONTROL:
Possible pests are mealy bugs and scale.
CLIMATE/PLANTING CONDITIONS:
Moderate/Warm - Prefers 65º-75º days and 60º-70º nights.
